The City of Arvada and Lake Arbor Golf Course are not liable for damages or injuries caused by errant golf balls
Individuals who hit errant balls may be responsible for any property damage or personal injuries they cause. Golfers who have or suspect that they have caused damages or injuries are encouraged to contact those involved to remedy the situation.
To the extent Lake Arbor Golf Course is notified by a golfer or citizen that an errant shot caused or may have caused damages or injuries, it will attempt to assist in facilitating communications between the golfer and the injured party. However, Lake Arbor Golf Course cannot release golfer information without the consent of the golfer.
What to do if an Errant Shot Causes Injury or Damage
- To the extent an injured party knows the identity of a golfer who causes property damage or personal injuries, they can report the incident to law enforcement and/or pursue civil redress against that individual.
- While the City strives to protect the community and to ensure its safety for all members, it is incumbent upon golfers who damage property or cause personal injuries to take responsibility for their actions and to contact the involved party to resolve the situation.
- A harmed parties’ own homeowners insurance or automobile insurance may provide coverage for damages or injuries caused by errant golf balls.
- Insurance carriers may also be able to assist in finding and implementing long-term solutions or remedial measures to reduce the likelihood of a future incident.
- Local homeowners associations (HOAs) may also be able to assist in remediating risks for damages or injuries.
Lake Arbor’s good Golfing Neighbor Program
Arvada Golf advocates for responsible play through our Good Golfing Neighbor program which encourages players to keep their ball in bounds with smart club selection while reminding golfers that they are ultimately responsible for their shots. Additionally, Arvada Golf employs strategic signage and tree planting throughout the course to promote shots that stay within the course’s boundaries. Unfortunately, errant golf ball shots are an inherent aspect of the sport and cannot be fully eliminated.
